So, you’ve taken the plunge into subscriptions. You’ve definitely made the right decision. Now it’s time to choose which Shopify subscription app you want to integrate onto your store.

With so many options out there, it’s tricky to pick the right subscription app for you, not to mention incredibly time-consuming. To help, we’ve done the legwork for you.

In this article, we’ve curated a list of the best subscription apps in the Shopify app store, based on experience, rating, reviews and top features, so you can get set up right away and start generating recurring revenue in no time. So, without further ado, let’s deep dive into the list…

1. ReCharge Subscriptions app

First up is our go-to subscriptions payments app, ReCharge. With merchants’ success in mind, ReCharge is easy to use, can be rolled out in minutes and has been developed for the sole purpose of providing subscriptions services – it’s the only thing it does, and it does it very well. Many of our clients, including Personalised Co and Santo Remedio, have implemented ReCharge on their Shopify Plus stores, which has helped them to reduce customer churn and increase LTV by leveraging ReCharge’s powerful APIs.

Here’s an overview of the app’s key features:

ReCharge is free to install + 1% and 10¢ per transaction as standard, and then the Pro plan starts at $300/month + 1% + 19¢ per transaction.

2. Bold Subscriptions app

Next up is Bold subscriptions. They haven’t always been big players in the subscription app ecosystem until recently, and now they power over 20,000 subscription brands worldwide. Out-of-the-box, it comes with lots of handy features that let you manage and scale your subscription business, not to mention it’s highly customisable.

Here’s an overview of the app’s key features:

Bold subscriptions offer merchants a 60-day free trial. After that, its Core payment plan is $49.99/month +1% of orders containing subscription products.

3. Seal Subscriptions app

Similarly to ReCharge and Bold, Seal Subscriptions is rated highly on the Shopify app store. Deeply integrated with Shopify, it helps merchants boost their sales through subscriptions and automatic recurring payments, and comes with zero transaction fees on all its plans.

Here’s an overview of the app’s key features:

Seal subscriptions offer merchants a 15-day free trial. Once that’s over, there are four different price plans, including Free for up to 150 subscriptions and Leader at $50/month for up to 51,000 subscriptions.

4. PayWhirl Subscriptions Payments app
