Leading sports nutrition brand selling a range of premium quality products.
SCI-MX helps nurture, support and inspire millions of sportspeople across Europe. From protein powders and snack bars to sports clothing and accessories, SCI-MX uses the latest scientific research to produce the highest quality sporting products.
Following Magento 1’s End-of-Life (EoL) and concerns about customer security, SCI-MX decided it was time for an upgrade. Not wanting to migrate to Magento 2, the sports brand needed Velstar’s ecommerce expertise to make the switch to Shopify Advanced.
From the get-go, our team of Project Managers worked closely with the brand to understand their technical requirements and long-term commercial goals. Utilising our years of experience with Shopify Advanced, we were well-positioned to identify solutions that would lay the foundations for success.
Renowned for its nutritional and fitness expertise, SCI-MX wanted the new site to reflect just this. So, we set to work overhauling the navigation and layout of the website. For example, we simplified the drop-down menu, categorising key products to allow users to find what they were looking for quickly and easily.
What’s more, with many of SCI-MX’s customers spending time on the site to enjoy reading the brand’s blogs, we implemented a blog section on the homepage and the product pages. This ensured that these much-loved articles were visible and accessible throughout the customer journey.
For SCI-MX the new store needed to allow customers to experience each product in detail. With this in mind, on each product page, we integrated a fixed form to inform customers about different variants of each product, including colour, size, ingredients and nutritional benefits. The variety of image styles and layouts helps to captivate users’ interest and improve customers? shopping experience.
Also, we integrated the reviews platform, Trustpilot so product reviews are visible on individual product pages. This will help build consumer trust and drive conversions. To increase average order value (AOV) and maximise sales, we’ve implemented a Related Products API that auto-generates related products and enables cross-selling on product pages.
And the new suggestive search navigation is perfectly placed to optimise the browsing experience. It allows users to find products faster by simply typing a few letters into the search bar, all without leaving the page they’re on. The AJAX Shopping Cart feature complements this, by letting the customer add products to their carts instantly without needing to leave the page.
We integrated a product quiz on SCI-MX’s new storefront, to allow customers to find the right products and make confident purchasing decisions and ultimately drive sales. We also linked the quiz to the email marketing platform, Klaviyo to help SCI-MX recover abandoned carts and grow their audience.
Finally, to boost brand loyalty and differentiate SCI-MX from its competitors, we partnered with LoyaltyLion and created a bespoke loyalty program that offers consumers incentives to continue shopping with the brand.
No longer restricted by their Magento 1 platform, SCI-MX can now enjoy the reliability and security of Shopify Advanced. Since launching, it’s freed up more time for the brand to focus on scaling, whilst giving their customers a shopping experience they enjoy.
